Help regarding the use of this Website
This website allows members access to Groups and Forums. Due to the nature of some of the topics or the status of the group, some groups and forums are private, while others are public. In all cases you will need to login to begin interacting with the features of this website.
Accessing Groups
If you are supposed to be a part of a group but receive an "access denied" notice, you should contact the administrator for this website at website@inclusion-ny.org. Please be specific about who you are and of which group you are supposed to be a member. If the group is open to new members, a "Subscribe" link will appear and you can become a member of that group by subscribing.
Participating in a Group
If you are a member of a particular group, upon entering the group, a series of options for participating in the group will appear on the left side of the page. These options may include:
- Create a Forum topic - Allows you to start a threaded discussion that other members of the group can respond to.
- Create a Poll - Allows you to ask a multiple choice question where the responses will be counted and displayed. Group members will also be able to respond in writing to the question asked (similar to a forum thread)
- Create a Multi-Contributor Document - Allows you to create a page where any member of the group can edit the page. This is a useful feature for collaborating on a document where all hands can be fully involved. By clicking the "Edit" tab that will appear at the top of the page, the page is checked-out to you so that you can make changes. When you save the page, it is checked-in. The check-in / check-out process keeps two people from editing the same page at the same time and inadvertantly destroying each other's work. Group members can also comment on the document, which does not affect the content of the document.
- Create a Single-Contributor Document - Allows you to create a page that only you can edit, but all members of the group can comment on it.
